Need an Official Record?
Send the request to the Texas agency or local office that owns the record:
- Court case files: use the Texas court case lookup guide, then contact the district, county, justice, or municipal clerk that heard the case
- Computerized criminal history: use the public, mail, or personal-review channels explained in the Texas DPS guide
- State prison status: use the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Online Inmate Search
- Sex-offender registration: search the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry or contact the local registration authority shown for the record
- Police and incident reports: contact the sheriff, police department, constable, campus agency, or DPS unit that created the report
- Expunction or nondisclosure: file in the court with jurisdiction under the applicable Texas procedure
- County bookings, jail rosters, and local files: select the originating county in the directory of all 254 Texas counties
