Disclaimer

Texas Criminal History provides general reference material about criminal-record systems across the state. It is privately operated and has no affiliation with Texas DPS, TDCJ, a Texas court, a sheriff or police department, or any other government office. The information is a starting point for locating an official source and is not itself an official record.

Not a Consumer Reporting Agency. This website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information here or in a linked tool may not be used for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another FCRA-regulated purpose. A compliant check must come through a legally appropriate official channel or FCRA-compliant provider.

Accuracy of Information

Texas agencies and courts may change addresses, telephone numbers, forms, fees, and procedures. Their databases also change as new reports, dispositions, and court orders arrive. The site aims to provide useful current guidance but cannot promise that every detail remains accurate at the moment it is read. Confirm instructions and charges with the responsible office before visiting, mailing a form, or paying a fee.

An Arrest Is Not a Conviction

A Texas arrest or booking entry records an allegation and custody event, not guilt. A prosecutor may decline, change, or dismiss a charge, and a court may enter an acquittal or another outcome. Expunction, nondisclosure, and later corrections can also change public access. The court's final disposition and the originating agency's current record are more reliable than an old copy or isolated booking entry. Texas DPS Computerized Criminal History can differ from the county file when a disposition is delayed, rejected, or not linked.

Use a located record as a lead, then verify its identity, status, and disposition with the Texas office that created or now controls it.

Verify With the Official Source

A court date, warrant, custody status, registry entry, or criminal-history result should be confirmed with the proper source. Depending on the record, that source may be Texas DPS, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry and local registration authority, a court clerk, or the county agency that made the booking or report. Only that custodian can issue its official or certified copy.

Not Legal Advice

General descriptions of Texas law and procedure are not legal advice. This site cannot assess a specific charge, warrant, pending prosecution, expunction under Chapter 55A, or order of nondisclosure. Individual legal questions should be taken to a licensed Texas attorney.

Third-Party Search Tools

Outside companies operate search tools that appear on some pages. Texas Criminal History does not control their prices, data handling, matching process, or results. A partner result may be incomplete, outdated, or linked to the wrong person and remains subject to the FCRA limits stated above.

Outbound Links

Links lead to Texas government systems, courts, local agencies, registries, and other resources. The destination controls its own content and availability. A link is provided for navigation and does not guarantee or endorse the destination's accuracy.

No Records on This Site

This website does not host court files, rap sheets, arrest reports, jail rosters, warrant lists, or registry profiles. It explains official statewide channels and routes local research through the directory of all 254 Texas counties. The actual record must be obtained from the office that holds it.
